Re: If I had the money
The CX is a HONDA.......used to see loads around london with all sorts of screens, fairings, cardboard the lot couriers loved them so most got a lot of abuse .Italian electrics are spaghetti... Did you spot the top gear show last sunday ,the Nissan plant in sunderland turns out more cars a year than the entire italian motor industry.. Still the scooter rally is coming soon bank holiday weekend so broken down itie smokers every where mind there is a picture of my cub in a scooter mag ,oh and me too

Re: If I had the money
make a new loom if your that worried and you intend on keeping the bike. italian bikes/cars can be lovely but the electrics have always been a sore point or using bleeding edge tech just for the hell of it. but hey that guzzi isn't bleeding edge tech... sort the naff wiring and she should be a great old plodder... my chop loom is a bit... well shite.. its had custom lights grafted on, indicators taken off, other crap done between 1986 when it was born and 2012 when i acquired her.. im fitting new lights etc so im gonna just build a new loom. most of the electrics are already hidden in the handlebars etc.. so im gonna hide and reroute as much as i can through the frame to clean up the look. nothing worse than a great bike with a dumb intermittent fault thats a pain to track down, can deffo sour the experience.

Re: If I had the money
I've ordered watertight connectors to replace all connections, however the ignition module is another matter. Not much can be done with that, if it starts to get erratic, then it can only be replaced. And they're a lot of filthy lucre!

Re: If I had the money
yeah the igniter unit on my bike is now "not available" the later one is and can be modded but they are silly cash like about £200+ and usually in the states.. so you have all the import duty, waiting and then need to mod it. is there no alternatives made for your bike newt? there is a kit made to replace the ignition system on mines but its still £250+ but replaces the lot with a more modern system than some jumped up Sinclair zx81 from the mid 80's thats in the standard unit.i would have though a bike with a following like the Guzzi would have all kinds of alternatives to try... and you got Alien to help you wire one in.... well if he aint working on his own crap.
Where abouts are you getting all your waterproof connectors from? vehicle wiring products? my loom has a load of poorly fitted blue squashed on connectors, ao its a winter job to rebuild my loom.while the frames off to get powder coated.
