Honda cd250u

Post by Gustheclunk » Tue Jul 23, 2013 8:16 pm

Hello people.
My friend has been given a honda cd250u which we are trying to get roadworthy, it runs but i beleive it needs a new loom as when a battery is connected it blows fuses and melts wires :(
It has a regulator a cdi and looks to have all the relays!!
It may also need a fuel tank. The front brake needs bleeding too!!
Any help or tips or bits for sale would be helpful :p
Cheers
Gus

As soon as the battery is attached or does the engine need to be running :?:

If you're saying it happens with the engine running, then the reg/rec would be my favourite. If it happens as soon as a battery is attached then it's time for a thorough inspection of the wiring, as something is shorting out. If you know which fuse it is that's blowing then you have a better chance of finding the short. A wiring diagram would be useful here.

I cant remember which fuse it was that kept blowing, was the top one
Though. Also the wiring is quite ropey as some wires are just twisted together and dont even have connectors, it seems to me like a few bits of loom are missing too!! The wires to attatch to the starter motor and the front brake light switch don't have anything on the loom to join with, this is why i think a new loom may be helpful!!
