2006 CG125 Centre stand/side stand
Tried to get centre stand off today to repaint but couldn't get it off. Looks as if it has rusted solid to centre spindle that also incorporates the rear brake pedal. Apparently it is a common problem. The brake pedal works freely but every time you use the stand you can see the spindle rotate which, I guess, will eventually make the hole in the frame larger. I've given it a few good whacks to try to remove it but I'm afraid of damaging the frame lugs.
What would you do?
Or should I paint it in situ, leave it and never use it again or buy this:

This is exactly what i have just done to my recent c90,the bonus is i closed the small cut by squeezing in the vice, welded it,and now the new greased pin is a nice tight fit.

Re: 2006 CG125 Centre stand/side stand
Would the slit HAVE to be welded? What about a thin slick of silicone? Enough for the stand to still move freely but also enough to keep the water out. Surely with a thin cut there would be enough inherent strength left in the stand ( particularly if the gap was squeezed in the vice ) so as not to compromise its safety. Or am I completely barking up the wrong tree? When you don't have welding access you have to think of everything!!!billyfix wrote:This is exactly what i have just done to my recent c90,the bonus is i closed the small cut by squeezing in the vice, welded it,and now the new greased pin is a nice tight fit.
