Hello Geoff, As far as boots are concerned the prices are awful for proper bike boots. I got a tip off another motorcycle forum....use 'Riggers Boots'.. They work just as well and as they are really safety boots you get the built-in protection....and only around 30 quid...cannot moan about that price can you?

Rigger boots are a type of safety boot but that doesn't mean they will be any use if you have an accident on the bike, might save you a bit of gravel rash but that's probably about it.

I wear Rigger boots every day for working in. The one major convenience factor they have is that they are easy-peasy to slip off to walk on a customer's carpet.

Not exactly the best safety feature for biking, unfortunately. If they stay on, all well and good but it's likely they won't.

These, however, are one of life's true bargains if you have a Screwfix store nearby.

Many thanks for that-they look good and great value. I struggle with boots as my calfs are big, I'd have to try a pair.

Cheers :D

£35 and a composite toe cap so no cold steel to cool your toes and of course they weigh a lot less .

In Autumn and Winter I use Derry boots which are great. In spring and summer I use lightweight hiking boots even when I am on my Moto Guzzi. It is important the boots cover your ankles.

Glad to hear it. Occasionally stuff crops up that is a proper bargain, so it's good to share.

I have bought some crap in the past though.
