I swapped out the originals (fully working) in preference of four speed manuals. In my experience the semi auto clutches are prone to slip compared with the manual lumps. For what I want it made sense!gtd65 wrote:Good stuff, I'll just have a wee read of that then
What's the story behind having the two 2k engines spare?
Are there two Super Cubs lying around without engines somewhere?

Had a look at your blog and take it that you removed the original engines to put the Lifan units in?
Are you anticipating that the Lifan units will be more reliable or just considering that the slightly larger displacement engines will be more suited to the long distance journey?

I just like having four gears.
Plus for some reason, they're much smoother.

Re: RIDERS CUB DISCUSSION
That's strange your earlier reply didn't show up for me last night?
Then, when I tried to look at the site this morning, I couldn't get in....
I'd assumed you had slipped in a 140cc engine or suchlike.
I'm hoping that my little Super Cub proves to be reliable overall, with the standard engine. It'll have an easy life as far as I'm concerned and only be taken out on dry sunny days, unless I get caught out in the rain.
I'd also like to pick up one of the 50cc variants at some point, if there's one at a good price, for a friend of mine who only has a car license.

Good news; at 6K - most of the bike is still going strong - keep the faith etc - garaged overnight.

a) indicator bulb blown
b) the last bit of the main stand foot has come away.. 2 second weld.. if I can be arsed..
c) crack in the battery cover housing
d) had the steering race tightened
e) crack in rear indicator stalk.
f) tightened chain
g) small rust showing on a few spoke nipples
h) horn button housing looks a bit loose
k) ignition key snapped when left in steering lock by mistake... doh !
j) little keyhole cover on petrol tank lock snapped off.
k) on my 3rd battery
