Flippin heck . They are scrap.
NEVER EVER try to weld swinging arms or forks, even small holes. They must be replaced.
I would like to see what is left after they have been attacked with a sandblaster

Can I ask why you think that? What makes repairing a frame ok, but not suspension parts?krazy kev wrote:NEVER EVER try to weld swinging arms or forks, even small holes. They must be replaced.

SIMPLE. The corrosion starts from inside and you cannot see what is going on. if you have one hole the rest of the metal is likely to be very thin and weak.mylittletony wrote:Can I ask why you think that? I am a mechanic by trade and have seen where people have patched sills on cars. It will be OK for a short while but I have seen many instances where holes have developed at the edges of the repairs. The only cure was a complete new sill repair panel or in case of the Cub, a new swinging arm or a frame repair panel.

Re: Beyond saving...
I can't believe this swing arm is for sale
It's dangerous and would be even more dangerous if welded...
Open the lid on the wheelie bin and throw it in before a HGV drives over your head...

Re: Beyond saving...
I agree entirely that this is an uneconomical repair when new swingarms are available and that patching is not going to cut the mustard. However, some parts are not available new or even second hand, what do you do then?krazy kev wrote:SIMPLE. My point is that someone could reconstruct a swing arm or forks from fresh steel, using the original mounting points, which would be absolutely fine.
The words "NEVER EVER" and "must" are very absolute and not necessarily applicable.

Yes i know its cheap and he has put for parts only, the rear foot pegs and rubber bungs are worth the £4.99Alan CF wrote:why are we not reporting him to ebay,
So someone might snap it up.
let us hope so, and they don't try to fix it.
