Which Model

Good Afternoon All,

I'm new to the Forum so go easy on me.

I have been riding bikes for about 7-8 years now. Started on a little LML125 2t, moved onto the newer GTS125 and then did my Test and had a GTS300. I recently sold my last bike (Honda NC700) back to a dealer as I needed so cash quick.

I now have no bike and I'm struggling (emotionally) without one. HA.

I have always thought the little Cubs were cool and I have seen a couple of custom cubs in Bristol which look awesome. So I'm starting to look round for one. My question is which one. What model is a good one to start with? Is the C90 the best, just because its the biggest engine. I see a lot of people bolt on top ends to give the bike a bit more oomph. Or is an older model going to be more sought after and possibly go up in money?? I'm not looking at cubs to make money. but it would be nice to think I might not lose any in terms of what I could sell it on for in the future. Just lost £3k on my last bike.

Thanks,
James

Hello All,

New to the forum so go easy on me.

What is the best model cub to go for as a starter into the world of cubs. I have owned Vepsas and other bikes before and fitted new barrels and pistons etc. And I see similar options are available to the cub. Is the c90 the best starting point? Or does it not really matter. Are c70's more sought after?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
James

Hi James
In a nutshell, most members would point you in the direction of a 12v cub from around 1982 onwards.
From around 1985 onwards these will easily be distinguishable by having a "square" headlight.
Rust will be the main problem but we have a Dummies Guide here for you to read about buying a cub:

I've replied to this in your "Newbie-which model" thread.

Thanks for getting back to me on both posts. The first one didn't load up straightaway. Now realize it had to be approved.

Thanks for your advice. And thanks for the dummies guide. Might go and look at one that is local to me on the weekend. See what they are all about. :D

Yes, top of the range is the 12v square headlight, 85cc 12 v electrics, Cdi ignition, no points and all that nonsense to deal with, engines are ultra reliable so long as they have plenty of oil, They are the fastest too, so best start with that model, if you can cope with the speed of it in the environment you ride, then you can work your way down through the zz's to the 'C' variations like C200 etc.
