Hi from France (GSX1400)!

Post by GSX1400 » Sun Sep 15, 2013 8:37 pm

Hello all!

Who am I?
I'm Richard from France (south east, down under the sunshine...and the wind!), 41 years old, married (too late gals!), 1 child, another one on order and interested in bikes, cars and mechanic.
I'm trying to keep my english up...lacking some vocabulary, but I learn fast.

What do I ride?
Bikes in the garage :
Honda XLR 125 1986 (Mr & Mrs bike)
Honda Vision NB50 1986 (personal toy)
Honda ST1100 + side-car 1990/2000 (family bike)
Suzuki Bandit 1200 S 2005 (Mrs bike)
Suzuki GSX 1400 2003 (Mr bike)

I'm not going to talk about the 4 wheelers unless you ask me too...

Internet experience?
I am on many forums since 2002, same name everywhere. Never got kicked out before and not hoping for it to happen now/here.

Can you see me/my bikes?
I would've loved to share pictures of my bikes to present myself more completely but the external hard disk where all my life was fell on the floor while operating.
I HOPE it will be saved...it is in a specialized companys hands. They told me the whole thing was dead...I'm trying another company.
Anyways, no access to my pictures...

Why am I here?
Last year I had my drivers licence suspended for 3 months. Was allowed to drive a moped (50cc) though.
Bought myself the Honda Vision NB50. 1st hand, like new and only 870 kilometers on the odo!
I had stumbled across an ad for a C50M, 1976, 1st hand and 4200kms, like new too...but it was sold before I had time to even think about it.

Guess what? More than one year later, I saw it come back on the Internet for sale. Same person. Happens it actually didn't sell last year.
Went to see it and it is darn clean!
The tires are still original.
I test drove it, found the down shift to be harsh (you don' t control the clutch like you do at hand systems) or I need to learn how to drive it.
I'm willing to buy it. The guy wants a bit too much money for it, so we're in discussion at the moment.
I also noticed that it is a 2nd hand since 2009...a bit cheating in the ad. Sad.
In fact, the 2nd owner only rode it for 20 kms since 2009. Doesn't like it and prefers his collectible Vespas.

I did a bit of research tring to find a forum dedicated to this C50/SuperCub thing and found nothing.
Except your C90 club and forum.

I've done a bit of a quick research and found a couple of topics discussing the C50 so I suppose I will be allowed to come in here. Hopefully.
Otherwise I'm going to be a homeless C50 owner.
Given the numerous SuperCubs sold, I thought I would find many forums on these bikes. In english or french. Seems I was mistaken.
I did find a couple of adresses for buying related stuff.

I'm wondering how much I should pay for this C50M (electric start).
I'll try posting 2 pictures of it.

I can't post the pictures, but I opened another thread on the Honda Spree forum (the scooter) where you can see them (thanks to a member over there who copied the pics in the ad I had found on the Internet).
If allowed, and if interest arouses, I'll link here.

Well, now I'm going to explore this forum more completely and await for your advice before going head first and the price I should offer for this mint C50M.
Even if the market/demand in France for these kind of bikes is different from the UK. It'll give me an idea at least. :)

Welcome, your English is a little bit better than my French  . Whats a C50M worth/what should you pay? It depends on how much you want it I suppose.

 Well, I want it...but I'm not willing to pay it overpriced. The right price should be okay!
And I would need some feedback.
I checked a webiste you have in UK :
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/classic_ ... 1&S=Search

You have much more choice but higher priced. Here we have much less choice on SuperCubs.
They didn't sell well. We have MUCH more small wheels here : Monkey, Dax, CY, Chaly...
Different markets, different customers, different prices.
It's going to be difficult to give a price to my seller I guess.

So I'm on my own on this one I guess. :|

Post the link to the pictures its ok to. Simply cut and paste the link to this thread. I tried looking but couldn't find it.

In my opinion a decent condition cub is worth 500pounds + but prices are so relative. What is the seller asking for?

The seller was asking for 1800€ last year. He is now at 1600€.
That is the price of a nice Dax/Chaly here which is much sought after...

It looks like a lovely bike. Is it registered in France? If not don't bother. You could have 3 bikes brought over from England for that price. I think the ceiling price for me would be 1000stg for a pristine bike. People do pay more I know. I've seen worse bikes change hands in Ireland for up to 2000euros......

What is 1000stg?

The bike IS registered in France.

I was finally considering 800/1000€ for this C50M. :?:
