Good evening from Oxford!

Post by MartinB123 » Sun Nov 23, 2014 6:24 pm

Hello there,

Thought i'd say hello... I'm Martin from Oxford. I'm into my pushbikes & VW'. However, I fancy a Winter project and i'm hoping to be the new owner of a 1982 Honda C90 soon.

My Dad has had countless Honda 90's over the years. He currently has an X reg (2000-2001) which is rarely used, he he still has his first one (1982 Y reg) tucked away in the shed awaiting some effort to get it back on the road!

The '90 in question belong to my Sister. She purchased it in October 1999 (from memory) and used it for a few years. Sadly one night in 2003 it was stolen from our parents' driveway. We found it about 200 yards down the road where it was dragged and presumably preceded to be hotwired. It hasn't been on the road since - my brother couldn't get it working after that incident and it's been tucked away in the shed since. I'm hoping that I can twist her arm and get it back on the road! All I know is that it's a 6v model and my Dad said earlier "It's the smoothest Honda 90 that i've ridden".

I took a couple of rubbish pics earlier, i'll post them up in a bit. In the meantime I will have a read around and do some learning :)

Welcome to the forum.

6v bikes were the hardest to nick as they required the battery for the ignition.

You will need a new battery to get the ignition to work if it is a 6v version (many a mistake has been made in the past) but the photo's will clear this up.

So a few months on and I think i've managed to bend my Sisters arm and take this off her hands!

No idea where to start with this, I think a new battery and some fresh fuel wouldn't go a miss...

The more dedicated souls we have to bring back these bikes the better. Good luck and welcome.

Dragged her out today, the chassis is surprisingly solid which is nice. Fair amount of surface rust but appears to be solid.

New points are in the post & will get a battery ASAP. Would love to get her fired up this week!
