Re: Elefantentreffen 2010
Hats off to you. What a trip, what pictures. what a hero.
And I am sweating about riding up to the Dragon from Pembrokeshire on Friday, I should be ashamed of myself (but you havent seen my 90 Cub )
Look forward to hearing and seeing more of your trip.
Respect

Nice to have you home safe and well Newt, and what an adventure you have had...hells angels on airbed tobogans and cops that don't know a moped from a motorcycle (arse from elbow more like), and snowstorms to boot. Looking forward to hearing your tales over a pint or six, but I may have to miss Matlock as a prior booking on my time prevents me.
xtwill....you'll make it no problem, take your time and enjoy the ride.

Thanks chaps, looking forward to the Dragon like a hole in the head at the mo, the draw is meeting up with you all, it's an opportunity I'll not miss!
Just trying to sort out a decent camping mat, think I'm sorted now.
Been away for 7 days, not been cold at all, but I was shivering in bed last night, the house is 'kin freezin! Might go for a ride to warm up......

Newt- I'm curious. Did you sample the 'delicious' looking 7euro breakfast?

I was wondering the same! Some aspects of the trip are important to get rightCeeGee wrote:Newt- I'm curious. Did you sample the 'delicious' looking 7euro breakfast?
Or was it currywurst 3 times a day?

Did you have to unload all that gear each time you wanted to fuel up, or is there some hidden method to it that I'm yet to fathom?Newtsalad wrote:
*Oh, and I've noticed that the breakfast was at 7 o'clock, not 7 euros. This is what I get when I try to do something from memory...

Yes. all off every 90 to 100 miles! What a pain! and how I missed my extra large tank!
I still managed 104 miles with an AVERAGE speed of 50mph though on one occasion!

No, that was one pleasure I avoided. Besides, breakfast was all over by the time I surfaced!CeeGee wrote:Newt- I'm curious. Did you sample the 'delicious' looking 7euro breakfast?

Re: Elefantentreffen 2010
Actually there was an abundance of food there. The Germans are good at tasty fast food, & I was never hungry. My neighbours fed me one night, sorta like Welsh rarebit on toast with thick chunks of pork roasted over the fire, it was delicious!
I only cooked a couple of times. I had pasta camping the first night, and another night I had a savoury rice with a can of corned beef, which hit the spot! Other times it was point and eat. Just point at one of the delicious sandwiches or filled rolls and say Eine Danke! & hand over 2.5 euro's! Everything was 2.5 euros!
